Dear Parents & Guardians:

Father Robert reminded us Wednesday night at his “Catholicism 101” presentation that, among other things, God intends for us to walk healthily upright. There are times when we let things in our lives cripple us, such as temptation or worry, and we begin to walk with a limp or hunched over. Thankfully, by the grace of God, we can turn all our concerns over to Him—we can let go and let God! With that, it is a marvelous sight to observe your children with their peers and teachers learning that anything is possible by the grace of God. Truly, the Holy Spirit continues to enlighten us all—the candles are lit and burning brightly. Deo Gratias!

Once again, we give thanks to those whose benevolence has blessed us:

*The parents, staff, and Saint Anthony Catholic School Alumni for painting the entry way.

*Junior High Volleyball Team for Painting Playground Lines.

*Rosie Fetzer and Jill and Wes Dreher for their generous contribution for the Junior High girls Volleyball uniforms.

*All of the great supporters who donated to the Volleyball fundraiser.

*Joe Schaefer for sharing his time and talents helping to get our “odds and ends” fixed before school started.

*Mr. Ertle for all of his hard work preparing our building for the beginning of a new school year.

*Trudy Fritzler for helping in lining up our volleyball officials.

*The Stahley family for moving the bike rack.

“Parting is such sweet sorrow.” While we miss those who have moved on, we know God has something special in store for them. However, their parting leaves a chasm that sometimes only time and prayer can heal. With that being said, we would like to share with you an excerpt from a letter we received from the Gibsons:

Just a note to let you all know how much we love you! We hate that this move happened in the midst of summer and we didn’t get a chance to see each of you. We are in Omaha, Nebraska as Jason took a job with Pioneer Hi-Bred. Taylor and Trevor are attending Saint Patrick’s school in Elkhorn, a school with about 700 students grades K-8! It is quite a change for them and they are adjusting but miss you all dearly. Please know you are in our prayers and please pray for us. We hope to be back often to visit.  But in the meantime you may email or call us!  And a little note from me (Mrs. Gibson) personally, I miss each of you and hold you all in a very special place in my heart. You are wonderful kids! Thanks for letting me be a part of your lives!

Love to you all!

Jason, Kelly, Taylor and Trevor Gibson

As a reminder, there is a PTSO Meeting next Tuesday, September 9 at 7:00 PM in Hagus Hall.  Everyone is invited! Join us and learn how you might contribute your time and talent for the good of our school and students. Regularly scheduled meetings will be held the first Monday of every month. Also, please be looking for information from your children’s teachers regarding the PTSO kick-off fundraiser—more information forthcoming.

Another school fundraiser, the St. Anthony Gala, scheduled for Saturday, September 27, is off and running. This is a major fundraiser for the school, so please share your time, talent, and treasure. We have Gala and dinner tickets available in the school office for you to purchase or sell. With everyone’s help we can make this event a huge success!

Again, a reminder for any of you who will be volunteering your time with the students, Safe Environment training will be held Wednesday, September 10 at 6:30 pm; Saturday, September 13 at 9:00 am; and in Ft. Morgan at St. Helena’s Saturday, September 20 at 10:00 am. We look forward to seeing you there.

For the health of your children, vision and hearing screenings were completed on Tuesday, September 2nd. Thank you to Caroline McCarty of RE-1 Valley School District and her crew. We are also thankful for our parent volunteers, Ruby Casillas, Rhonda Conner, Mary Cure and Rose McDonald who assisted in the process.

Another health and safety matter to share with you is that the Departments of Education, Homeland Security, Commerce, and Health and Human Services have joined forces to place a National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Public Alert Radio in every school, including ours, supported by special congressional funding. This all-hazards NOAA radio alerts us to any possible watch or warning in the multi-county area.

We have two weeks under our belts, so we are beginning to find that groove, those routines and procedures, that keep us grounded. The students continue to leave me with a smile on my face and a ray of light in my heart. Thank you all so very much for entrusting us with your children as God continues to bless us in very special ways. And as an open invitation, should you have questions, comments, or concerns, do not hesitate to contact me.

Pax et lux,
