November 18, 2008

Good afternoon,

Last night I presented the State of the Parish.  I have included the handout and prayer card that were given during the presentation.  The Parish is facing challenges in the areas of time, talent, and treasure.  Saint Anthony Parish is in need of every parishioner’s help.  I am asking you for your help.

Between November 2008 and February 2009, I am raising $100,000 to $150,000 for the ministries of St. Anthony’s.  We have over 900 families registered in our parish and it is my hope that at least a third of them or more will give at least $1000, this is in addition to their regular offertory giving.  I have started this campaign by donating $1300 to the church, my entire savings account.  I lead by example, and I am asking all to make a sacrificial gift according to their means.

I need volunteers for the many ministries for Saint Anthony’s.  God gave you talents, invest them in our church.  Eucharistic Minister Training is scheduled for Friday, November 21, at 6:30 PM at the church.  Prison Ministry is meeting Saturday, December 6, at 9 AM in the rectory basement.  Legion of Mary meets Wednesday mornings at 9:00 AM in Hagus Hall.  We have many organizations that can use your talents, join them.  Now is the time to tap them on the shoulder and say “I’m interested in your group.”  Call the parish office for contact information or visit our website www.saintanthonyssterling.org.

Our stewardship committee will be formed in the next week or two.  Each family in the parish will be contacted and asked to help the Parish in some way.

Pray, pick a way of giving and being involved, and fill out the included card, then build the kingdom of God and receive the many graces and benefits that God will pour upon you.

May the peace of Christ reign in your heart,

Pastor, St. Anthony Parish

Give and gifts will be given to you; a good measure, packed together, shaken down, and overflowing, will be poured into your lap. For the measure with which you measure will in return be measured out to you.
